Club statement (May 2025): ECB decision on Trans Women's participation

Simon Tanner25 May - 19:00

Club statement on recent decision of the ECB to prevent Trans women's access to women's cricket.

We’re delighted to play East Anglian Veteran Ladies this Bank Holiday Monday and stand in solidarity with them over the recent England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) decision on trans women.

Crouch End CC is proud of the diversity of its membership and the active role we play in tackling all forms of discrimination. We continue to work hard to create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable space for all to participate in cricket.

The ECB’s recent decision to deny trans women access to women’s cricket has disappointed and upset the club, its friends and allies across the game. We seek to welcome all trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people to Crouch End CC providing equity for all, howsoever they may choose to be part of the game.

The ECB’s decision does not sustain an environment where “everyone feels like cricket is the game for them”. We hope you can reach out to us to discuss how you can participate at our club, whilst we also represent your voice and feedback to the ECB to revise this decision.

For the true spirit of the game, cricket must be better than this.
