Dan Botten writes...

2025 will go down as one of the most successful years in Crouch End Cricket Club’s proud history — a season defined not only by silverware but by the outstanding achievements of the people who make our club what it is.

Middlesex T20 Champions
On the field, our First XI were crowned Middlesex T20 Champions, showing skill, spirit, and togetherness in abundance under the astute stewardship of Artharva Prasad.

Off the field, two of our most dedicated club stalwarts— Charlie Logan and Clare Ludlow — have been recognised for their exceptional contributions to cricket locally and nationally.

Charlie Logan: Lifetime Achiever
Long-serving Head Groundsman, Charlie Logan, has been named “Lifetime Achiever” in the 2025 Middlesex in the Community Cricket Collective Awards. (Middlesex CCC →). Charlie received this prestigious honour at Lords in September after MITC had received a large volume of nominations for each award, testament to the dedication of many across the recreational game in Middlesex.

Having joined in 1988, Charlie was Chair from 1990-1995 during the critical years of rebuilding and league entry, and again from 2003-2015. After stepping away from playing in 2008, he became instrumental in ground maintenance and club operations, playing a key role in the club’s continued growth. Charlie's contributions, both on and off the field, are too many to list – his leadership, guidance, and unwavering support for the club have left an indelible mark on CECC.

Clare Ludlow: MCC Community Cricket Hero
Meanwhile, Clare Ludlow, our Head of Junior Cricket, has been named one of the MCC’s 11 Community Cricket Heroes — a national recognition celebrating individuals who make an extraordinary difference to the grassroots game. (LondonWorld →)

Clare’s leadership has transformed Crouch End’s junior section. Clare has been a brilliant but unsung influence in professionalising the junior operation, overseeing everything from fixture coordination to coaching development across all age groups, ensuring a clear focus on making CECC not just a competitive force — but one that champions inclusion, enjoyment, and team spirit. She dedicates countless hours each week to ensuring every young cricketer feels part of the club — and her recognition by the MCC, including a special invitation to Lord’s, was richly deserved.

The achievements of Charlie and Clare highlight what makes Crouch End CC special: a club built on dedication, community, and a shared love of cricket. The 2025 T20 title may be the headline, but it’s the people behind the scenes who create the platform for success.
As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with immense pride — proud of our champions on the pitch, proud of our volunteers off it, and proud of the values that unite us all.

Here’s to another season of cricket, camaraderie, and community at Crouch End CC.
