All the information you need for the new season, from cricket camps and membership to dates for training and Family Fridays...

Welcome to the 2024 cricket season! It’s a very special one in the history of Crouch End Cricket Club as we mark our 150th anniversary – and this newsletter has details of some very special events plus all the latest news ahead of what promises to be a memorable summer.

News

Junior membership is open… You can sign up your son or daughter for the 2024 season here. We welcome players aged 5 to 17 and there are two fees:

  • £100 for girls of all ages or boys aged U6-U9 (Y1-Y4)
  • £135 for boys in U10-U17 league teams (Y5-12)

Your membership covers all training sessions from April to July and players in all league teams will receive one of our new blue match shirts. If you have any questions about signing up, please email the junior section.

Family Fridays… Our famous Friday club nights run from April 19th until July 19th. The bar will be open from 17:00, food will be served from 18:00 and training is from:

  • 17:00 to 18:00 for Girls and Boys U10s and below (Y5 and below)
  • 18:15 to 19:30 for Girls U11- U15 and Boys U11-U14s
  • 19:30 onwards for U15s and upwards

Midweek training… This begins in the week commencing Monday, April 15th and the days/times are as follows:

  • Monday 17:00 to 18:15 (U10 to U12) & 18:15 to 19:30 (U13 to U15)
  • Tuesday 17:00 to 18:15 (Girls U11- U15)
  • Thursday 16:30 to 18:00 (U17)

Easter cricket camp… Weather permitting, this will take place at the club in the second week of the school holidays (Monday April 8 to Friday April 12, from 9.00 to 3.30). Camp is open to members and non-members aged 5 to 14, with the option to pay for an extended day until 5.00. Members in Y7 and above will have the option to join in from 1.30 for just £10. Book here.

Players needed… We’re short of players for the U14 (Y9) boys’ team so please do invite friends who are interested in playing to join or try out the club. And as we look to build on the success of our U15 (Y10) girls' team, we are starting an U10 team and are looking for Y4 and Y5 girls to get involved.

Blue is the colour… Starting this summer, all junior teams will play in the club’s new navy blue kit. Every junior member from the U10s upwards will receive a new navy match shirt when they sign up. This should be worn with CECC navy playing trousers (or navy tracksuit bottoms/shorts). To ease the transition, white trousers may be worn and any junior playing adult cricket will be expected to wear whites. All playing kit is available to buy as part of the club’s deal with Gray-Nicolls.

Club pavilion – your views… We are looking to update the pavilion at Calthorpe. As a Premier Division club we are required to meet ECB standards and we see this as an opportunity to improve the facilities for our members and increase the club’s revenue streams. Please share your views on what you would like from a refurbished/extended pavilion through this online survey, which closes on March 30. We will then invite you to have a look at a series of proposed plans before we proceed.

Do you want to play cricket? For all parents who play or want to play cricket, we have a number of adult teams ranging from Premier Division standard to the Sunday Friendly XI and the women-only CREW team and everything in between. Ask any of the team below for details.

Do you want to be more involved in the club? We rely on volunteers to keep the incredible CECC junior section ship sailing. We are currently looking for a new committee member to oversee the CECC facilities, help with fundraising and sponsorship or run the U8 and U9 teams. Drop us a line or chat to one of the team listed below.

Can you sponsor a board? We are always looking for sponsorship so we can keep costs down and make CECC even more accessible than it already is. If you can help, please talk to us about purchasing an advertising board at the club.
